The "dot.com" era - eCommerce came to include activities more precisely termed "Web commerce" - the purchase of goods and services over the World Wide Web via secure servers. A secure server uses HTTPS, a special server protocol which encrypts confidential ordering data for customer protection. eCommerce also requires e-shopping carts and electronic payment services, like credit card payment authorizations.

eCommerce

Developing quality websites with integrated e-Commerce functionalities has become more and more competitive over the last few years.

As our client you expect your e-Commerce site to deliver information, product specification, graphics and the opportunity for your customers to purchase NOW.

Where in the past a simple purchase option thrilled your potential customers, these days surfing consumers expect much more. Everything from tax and shipping calculations to discounts, cross promotions and favorites, access to real-time payment authorization services and what ever else they have seen in some of the biggest shops on the Net.

You on the other hand, you can happily ignore the fact that it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop these super shops. Using Denton Web Designs solutions we will develop a pure e-Commerce site or a hybrid site (informational & e-Commerce) that will cost you a fraction of what you may expect.

Electronic Commerce

Electronic commerce (also referred to as EC, e-commerce or ecommerce) consists primarily of the distributing, buying, selling, marketing, and servicing of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.

A true e-Commerce site must have a payment processor of some type installed on the website. Typically a brick and mortar store can use their existing merchant account.  Small businesses owners without an existing merchant account can setup accounts with PayPal® or other online payment processors to accept payment on thier behalf.

Regardless of the method used the processor will always take a small percentage of the sell for processing the transaction.
